Residential/Multi-Family Roofing
Most contractors will attempt to tell you that all shingles are created equal. Regarding the basic material makeup, yes, they are the same in many ways. The anatomy of an Asphalt shingle is comprised of a few essential components.
Fiberglass matting
The first material on the fiberglass mat is asphalt, making the shingle tough and water-resistant.
Filler and Granules
Next, finely pulverized minerals, called stabilizers or fillers, are mixed in with opaque granules and adhered to the asphalt. These ceramic-coated opaque granules protect the shingles from harmful ultraviolet rays and provide the shingle with color. Lastly, a layer of copper is added for algae resistance.
The real difference in quality is in the manufacturer and how much faith they have in their product. This is most evident in the fine print of their manufacturer warranty.
We can and are willing to install whatever brand of shingle you want and will accompany it with a labor warranty. Likewise, we are certified installers in all the major manufacturers.
